Andy Matuschak-style notes
The aesthetic and discipline I’m trying to borrow:
- Atomicity. One idea per note. If it’s growing two ideas, fork it.
- Concept-oriented titles. “Atomic notes resist drift” not “May 14 thoughts.”
- Aggressive linking. Connections are the substrate. A note with no backlinks is suspicious.
- Visible growth states. Roughness is a feature, not embarrassment.
- No publish boundary. Writing IS the published thing.
What I’m NOT copying:
- The stacking-panes UI. Beautiful, but for someone reading my own notes back to me, a single column is fine.
- The exhaustive “evergreen notes should be…” discipline. I want to be able to write a 200-word “here’s what I tried today” note without theorizing.
